Good morning FLVT parents/guardians,
On behalf of everyone at school, we want to thank you for your support and patience as we continue to navigate through the COVID-19 pandemic.
Currently, we are finding it a challenge to juggle our commitment to in-person instruction with the increased requests for homework for absent students. Simply put, our teachers cannot provide in-person learning for present students and an at-home learning program for absent students. For students absent for a short period (1-2 days), our teachers will work with them on missed work when they return.
When students are absent for more extended periods (3+ days), we will be following these guidelines when a request comes in for homework:
- Elementary grades
- If requested, teachers will provide some homework for a couple of days;
- Teachers will try to provide the homework the day following the request;
- Teachers will not be updating their Google Classroom for homework purposes.
- Junior High grades
- If requested, teachers will provide some homework for a couple of days;
- Teachers will try to provide the homework the day following the request;
- Teachers that consistently use Google Classroom will update their Google Classroom once a week.
Also, our school division has created lists of learning activities for students that need to stay home for an extended period. Here is the link to the lists:

- Jr. High: https://www.holyspirit.ab.ca/educational_services/learning_services/resources_for_home_-_junior_high
- Early Learning: https://www.holyspirit.ab.ca/educational_services/learning_services/resources_for_home_-_early_learning
We are always aware there are exceptional circumstances; please contact the school and talk to one of the administrators if you have any questions.
Thank you so much for being so understanding regarding this issue. Don’t hesitate to get in touch with the school if you have any questions.
