Catholic Education Week: May 18 – 22

Catholic Ed Week

Good afternoon everyone,

Next week is Catholic Education Week in Alberta.  We are very proud and thankful for the gift of Catholic Education.  We want to provide you with a summary of the various events we are doing for Catholic Education Week here at FLVT and in our Holy Spirit community.  Throughout the week we are trying to follow the ‘marks’ of a Catholic School.

Monday: Mark 1 – Created in the Image of God

Bishop McGrattan has provided us a videotaped message to all schools in the Calgary Diocese to kick off Catholic Education Week:

Tuesday: Mark 2 – Catholic Worldview

Our staff that is working at school will be starting our day praying the Holy Rosary out by the pond. For those staff that are working from home and any of our FLVT families are encouraged to pray the Holy Rosary with our Calgary Diocese Bishop McGrattan at the following link:

Also, our staff will be visiting the students in our neighbourhood to connect with our families between 9:30 am and 11:30 am.  The purpose of this connection is simply to say hi, we will be adhering to social distancing protocols.

Wednesday: Mark 3 – Faith Permeation

Livestream Mass with Bishop McGrattan for all schools in Calgary Diocese – “Closing Mass” and Celebration of Catholic Education at 10:00 am. The Livestream feed can be accessed at https://www.catholicyyc.ca/

Catholic Education Mass

Thursday: Mark 4 – Gospel Witnesses

Please wear blue in support of publicly funded Catholic Education.  Post pics using #IBelieveinCatholicEd and #BlueforCatholicEd

Friday: Mark 5 – Spirituality of Communion

Please note due to the rain the parade has been switched to Monday from 2 pm to 3 pm.

Please join us Friday from 10:00 am to 11:00 am for our 2nd Drive-by, Walk-by, Bike-by parade.  Our school staff are coming together for our 2nd Parade to wave and say hello to you!  We would LOVE to see you!

HandStaff members will be behind the fence line on Stoney Crescent West Friday, May 22 from 10:00am to 11:00am. We are asking families to drive-by, walk-by, bike-by by turning onto Stoney Cres off Red Crow Blvd. For those of you walking and biking please ensure you follow the distancing guidelines and please be sure to travel in only one direction on the sidewalk. We encourage you to make several loops by either using the sidewalk across the street or the pathways on the school grounds (more ideal if biking).

We hope to see you Friday!

Thank you for supporting Catholic Education and entrusting us with the care of your children.
