Class Lists for 2020-21

class-list

We are continuing to plan for the next school year; unfortunately, due to the current COVID-19 pandemic, we are unsure of a lot of things.  We are planning for a typical start to the year, although there will be some changes in our new normal to address potential social and physical distancing requirements.

We hope to have our staffing and class structure finalized soon.  Therefore, the staff at Father Leonard Van Tighem will be working hard to develop class lists for next year to create rich educational environments for all the students.  A lot of thought goes into the making of homeroom classes to ensure a balanced classroom.  As a team, we will discuss:

  • Student needs
  • Educational Assistant supports
  • The male/female ratio
  • Academic balance
  • Behaviour needs
  • Number of students in classes
  • Student relationships with other students
  • New students joining FLVT

Parent requests make it difficult to keep classes balanced, therefore we are not accepting parent requests.   Please do not contact your current child’s teacher with a request to be in a particular classroom or with certain other students.  Parents are welcome to contact me if they want to share any information that will help staff make better decisions.

To help for a smooth transition to the new school year, class lists will be posted in either the gathering space or outside our front doors at Father Leonard Van Tighem School on Friday, August 28 by 10:00 am. (please note this may change due to potential COVID-19 restrictions).  We hope this helps with any student anxiety about the first day.

Once class lists are posted, I ask parents to be patient with any classroom change requests.  As mentioned earlier, parent requests make it difficult to keep the classes balanced.  Please contact me in mid-September if you find there is still a need to request a change.

Thank you for having your children at Father Leonard Van Tighem School.  We are looking forward to the 2020-21 school year.
