A Day in the Life of a Principal…

ihelpI have been a school based administrator for almost 20 years.  Currently, I am the Principal of Our Lady of the Assumption School (OLA) in Lethbridge, Alberta.  OLA is a wonderful school serving the learning needs of Early Learning students, Grade 1 to 6 students, and a talented staff of 28.  Recently a grade one student asked me, “What do you do?”  My immediate answer was, “I help.”  Often, ‘how’ I do things is more important than ‘what’ I do.  Here is what I do in a typical work day, more specifically what I hope to do this Wednesday:

typical work dayWhen I review what I do, I am happy to say most of the things I do are to “help”.  I help students, parents, and staff.  I am proud to be a principal, I am thankful that I get to help.

walking together at OLAPS – As part of my own growth plan I will be spending some time every morning in prayer and reflection.  This may be one of the most important things I do all day.
